FDA Approves REMS for Extended-Release and Long-Acting Opioids

On July 9, 2012, the FDA approved a risk evaluation and mitigation strategy (REMS) for extended-release and long-acting opioids. The REMS introduces new safety measures to reduce risks and improve safe use of opioid medications. For more information, click here.

FDA Sets Limit on Acetaminophen Dosages
The FDA has asked drug manufacturers to limit the strength of acetaminophen in prescription drug products to no more than 325 mg. A boxed warning highlighting the potential for severe liver toxicity is also being added to all products containing acetaminophen. More information is available here.
