About the National Initative on Pain Control® (NIPC®)
More than half of all Americans suffer from chronic or recurrent pain. Daily, physicians
are faced with finding safe and effective methods and treatments to provide optimal
pain relief for their patients.
The National Initiative on Pain Control® (NIPC®),
through numerous educational venues, offers innovative, interactive, and practical
activities that support the Initiative's goals.
NIPC educational activities highlight the magnitude of the problem, providing
guidance in pain assessment, and offer proven strategies for pain management, all
with the aim of improving patient outcomes.
All NIPC programs are developed and continuously evaluated by the NIPC Education
Council, an expert multidisciplinary team of specialists, researchers, and practicing
physicians in pain management. The NIPC Faculty includes nationally respected experts
in the pain management field.
Examples of NIPC activity formats are:
|
• DINNER DIALOGUES® |

Educational Goals of the NIPC
Elevate the importance of managing the patient with pain by heightening physician
and healthcare provider awareness of the impact of pain on the patient’s daily
living and societal burdens.
Empower physicians to differentiate types of pain, resulting in improved precision
in diagnosis and therapeutic decisions.
Provide physicians with the latest advances and strategies in pain management and
translate clinical data into clinical practice utility.
Emphasize importance of tolerability, safety, and nontoxicity in selecting effective
pain therapies.
Address barriers to achieving pain control and common misconceptions regarding use
of pain therapies.
Here's what past attendees had to say about NIPC activities:
“Best CME activity that I have participated in and I have been in practice
for over 30 years.”
“Timely presentation on one of the most critical issues facing practitioners
today. The subject matter was well presented as to the advantages for the physician
and patient.”
“I recently received your CD-ROM containing the Opioid Analgesia Tool Kit.
I found it to be extremely well done and very informative. Would it be possible
to obtain more copies of it to distribute to our pain physicians?”
"How do we get more of our colleagues to attend these meetings? There is so much
information out there regarding the treatment of pain, and they really need to hear
these programs. I've been to the last two and I plan on attending more that are
offered."
